French hospitality is second to none, especially at our local Bridge clubs, so why not combine a serious interest in Bridge with the experience of another culture and environment?

WHO IS IT FOR?
All standards of Bridge are catered for.
The holiday is designed for players of Duplicate bridge at club level, catering for a wide range of ability.
You don't need to book with a partner, everyone is welcome and your experienced hosts will sort out partnerships. You can also bring a friend who does not share your interest in Bridge, as there are many alternatives available.
WHERE WILL YOU PLAY?
During your holiday there will be Duplicate Bridge available each weekday afternoon and every evening.
In the afternoon Bridge is played at different local Bridge clubs, all members of the French Bridge Federation, in the Anjou region: We have selected 5 Bridge clubs to which you will be accompanied by your host, all within 10 - 45 minutes travelling distance of La Roulais:
The Bridge Clubs: Ancenis, Chateaubriant, Chateau Gontier, Nort sur Erdre and Sautron.

It is normal in France for 'club bridge' to be predominately played in the afternoon from 2.00p.m until 6.00p.m Results are published very soon after the completion of the session.
In the evening, after dinner, Duplicate bridge is also available at La Roulais or if you wish, again at a local club - but be warned the club session does not finish before midnight!!!

Your Host - Nick Mumby
I have been playing duplicate bridge for the past twenty years. Before moving to France seven years ago, I was an active member of York Bridge Club, attaining the rank of 2 star Premier Regional Master. Now living in France, I play at a variety of clubs in the region which I have included in our itinerary. At the beginning of your stay I will explain "all things French" regarding bridge - which is not greatly different from playing in the UK, as bridge is a multi-national game. The French are very welcoming at their clubs and you are guaranteed a good game of bridge, played in a relaxed and friendly environment. I will accompany you to each club (giving me the excuse to play bridge more often than I am currently allowed !)
